Clay Siegall: Leaping Forward

We are at a crossroads of innovation and technology. Everyday something new and improved is released for mass consumption and we are truly more reliant on technology than ever before. This reliance looks to increase as we get closer and closer to unlocking the secrets of life and health. One of the people leading the new wave of technological health advancements is Clay Siegall, the CEO and founder of Seattle Genetics. He and his company are doing what 30 to 40 years ago may have seemed impossible. But even this powerhouse in the health community has a story.

What exactly does clay Siegall do? He and his company work to find cures for rare and rampant disease that we haven’t had significant progress finding cures for. One major disease being cancer. Clay Siegall started Seattle Genetics in 1998 due to wanting to receive credit for his extensive work and to be his own boss. Clay Siegall is qualified as has over 70 pages of publications and has at least 15 patents. According to Clay he would have more if he was receiving credit from the company that he worked for prior to starting his business. With a B.S. degree in zoology and a PhD in genetics his company has created over 20 anti-body based cancer therapy drugs. His company these days has flourished despite having trouble staying stable around 1999 and 2000 according to Clay. All this work to fight disease like cancer started when he saw a family member almost die from the remedies that cure cancer rather than the sickness itself. Years later here we are and his company is not only doing a noble cause but they are victorious business wise from selling the curative drugs, production partnerships, and licensing the technologies and processes they use in their work.

It looks like Clay Siegall and his company are truly helping us leap forward in the fight against disease. His company actually created the first FDA-approved antibody drug conjugate, which is actually accepted for three indications. This is good news for us all as it seems we are very close to finding a cure for the infamous cancer problem. With Clay Siegall heading the next step in medicinal drugs it looks like we might be that much closer to crossing the barrier of what humans can achieve. Through hard work which is clay’s secret to success and innovation we can and always will win.
